Tunde Jegede
Tunde Jegede is a musician, composer and producer from London. He grew up studying the cello and classical music in Europe, and the kora in The Gambia. He released his first album, “Lamentation” in 1995. It brought together a range of African instruments with the London Sinfonietta, combining western classical with African rhythms and melodies. The BBC called it “a masterpiece”. In 2006, I started filming with Tunde in Europe and Africa and produced the film “Tunde” which won several awards in film festivals. Since then Tunde has produced numerous recordings with world renowned musicians from West Africa, Europe and the US. Currently we are collaborating on a feature documentary, “The River Niger Project” which explores how African music has influenced western music.
